About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a highly technical and hands-on Senior Lead for Mortgage Data Analytics (Senior Lead Quantitative Model Solutions Specialist) to own and lead the Mortgage Model Development Center’s mortgage data analytics capability end-to-end. This role is fundamentally data- and analytics-first, requiring deep mortgage domain expertise and a strong quantitative mindset. The Senior Lead will be responsible for setting the vision, building the capability, and delivering analytical outcomes across mortgage-backed securities (MBS/EMBS/Loan Performance/Intex) and in-house or external loan level data sets, and AI-enabled workflows.
The Wells Fargo Investment Portfolio (IP) manages the Company’s Available-For-Sale (AFS) and Held-To-Maturity (HTM) securities and loan portfolios, and the Reinsurance and Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI) businesses as part of the Finance group. IP also provides strategic and analytical balance sheet support to the bank, as well as a centralized, street-facing trade execution and hedging function and centralized mortgage modeling for the enterprise.
In this role, you will:
Lead and own the Mortgage Model Development Center’s mortgage data analytics capability, including strategy, roadmap, execution, and delivery outcomes.
Build scalable analytics frameworks across MBS, EMBS, loan performance, Intex, and internal/external loan-level datasets.
Develop hands-on Python-based tools for data ingestion, transformation, quality control, cohort analysis, feature engineering, and mortgage analytics.
Partner with model development, validation, investment portfolio, technology, and business stakeholders to translate mortgage data into actionable insights.
Establish standards for mortgage data quality, analytical rigor, documentation, controls, and repeatable production workflows.
Drive adoption of AI-enabled workflows for data extraction, anomaly detection, summarization, and analytics acceleration.
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of Quantitative Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Deep experience with mortgage data, including MBS/EMBS, loan-level performance, agency datasets, Intex, prepayment, delinquency, default, and loss analytics.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics, or computer science
Strong hands-on Python and SQL experience, including pandas, NumPy, PySpark, or comparable large-scale data analytics tools.
Demonstrated experience owning or leading a data analytics function, including strategy, operating model, governance, and delivery accountability.
Experience building reusable analytics tools, data pipelines, quality controls, dashboards, or production-grade analytical workflows.
Ability to communicate complex mortgage data concepts clearly to senior stakeholders, modelers, validators, technologists, and business partners.
Experience applying AI, machine learning, or automation techniques to financial data analytics, data quality, or unstructured data extraction.
