Process Overview
Global Markets Technology & Operations delivers end‑to‑end technology and operations solutions for Global Markets, including FX, Equities, Prime Brokerage, and FICC. Within this group, the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities Technology (FICC Tech) team builds and supports systems for pricing, trade capture, allocations, risk, surveillance, market data, and counterparty credit. The group manages 70+ systems across all three regions, covering both flow and derivatives products across 30+ trading desks .In India, FICC Tech operates within BA Continuum with 400+ employees across Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, including a 95+ member team within FICC ASD.
Job Description:
We’re looking for a hands‑on Platform Engineering Lead to help shape and run the core compute and orchestration platform behind Quartz. we value strong fundamentals, Strong infrastructure engineering background, Deep technical expertise with ability to operate independently, fully hands‑on — capable of designing, building, troubleshooting, and driving technical execution and Proven ownership of complex, high‑impact workloads
Responsibilities: - Modernize the platform that enables multiple lines of business to build, deploy, and seamlessly share applications, business logic, and data across the organization.
Technical Leadership
- Lead the design, development, and operation of distributed systems powering the Quartz (refer the note section on what is Quartz) platform.
- Establish and evolve engineering standards, best practices, and technical direction for the team.
- Serve as a hands-on technical expert, supporting engineers through design reviews, code mentorship, and troubleshooting complex platform issues.
- Partner with product, architecture, operations, and application teams to deliver a scalable, resilient, and secure compute platform.
People & Delivery Leadership
- Mentor and grow platform engineers through coaching, feedback, and career development.
- Drive an engineering culture based on ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate cross-team initiatives, aligning priorities and ensuring timely delivery of platform capabilities.
- Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, articulating trade-offs, risks, and solution approaches.
Requirements
Education - Bachelors/Master’s degree in computer science or engineering
Certifications If Any – NA
Experience Range- 14 Yrs – 17 Yrs
Foundational skills:
- Experience in software development using agile software development life cycle methodologies (Covering requirements, design, development, testing and Implementation of n-tier architecture)
- Extensive experience with object-oriented principals and software development methodologies and practices.
- Java, Go, Java, Python, C++, Rust, or C# J2EE, NO SQL (MONGO)
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Podman, or similar container technologies.
- Proven experience deploying/operating workloads in Kubernetes, ideally OpenShift.
- Experience with HashiCorp stack, Nomad for workload orchestration.
- Excellent Communication and Stakeholder engagement Skills
Desired skills:
- Experience with public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Experience with distributed compute frameworks such as Spark, Dask, or Ray
- Experience implementing observability solutions, particularly OpenTelemetry
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, or Buildbot
- Familiarity with enterprise-grade security and compliance requirements in regulated environments
